History

The Flight of the Phoenix Aviation Museum was founded in 1994 by Steve Dean, owner of Dean Lumber Company, and occupies a 6,000-square-foot hangar at Gilmer's Fox Stevens Field that was originally built to house the company's aircraft. Its collection includes a T-37B Tweet, an Aero Commander L-26C, and a de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth. The museum hosts an annual Veterans Day airshow and offers rides in several of its planes.
