History

Founded in 1976, the Heritage Park Museum of East Texas in Edgewood is an open-air museum of more than twenty restored and furnished structures depicting rural East Texas life from the 1800s to the 1920s. Its buildings include a dog-trot cabin, blacksmith shop, country store, barber shop, syrup mill, schoolhouse and the "Church in the Wildwood." The park's oldest structure is a cabin built in 1874 on the Sabine River by James Scott.
