History
The William Wheeler House in Victoria was built in 1900 by architect Jules Leffland in the Classical Revival style for English immigrant William Wheeler and his family. Wheeler helped design water systems in several Texas towns and served as superintendent of Victoria's Water Department from 1885 to 1922; the house, with its wrap-around porch and wood siding scored to resemble stone, remained in the family until 1982. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
