History

The 20th Century Technology Museum in Wharton opened in July 2005 on the first floor of the former Wharton County Jail, built in 1888, and is now attached to the Wharton County Historical Museum in a facility that opened in October 2012. Its collection ranges from working radios, phonographs, televisions, arcade games, and cameras to experimental aircraft, including an ornithopter and a Rutan VariEze displayed out front.
