History

The Pioneer Circuit Riders Memorial stands in Beaver Creek Cemetery, about eleven miles south of Electra in rural Wichita County. It honors the traveling Methodist "circuit rider" preachers and the early settlers who together built the homes, camp-meeting ground, church, school, and cemetery of the Beaver Creek community. The memorial names many of the individual circuit-riding ministers who served the frontier congregation.
