History
The Red River Valley Museum in Vernon traces its origins to 1964, when J. Henry Ray donated a collection of native artifacts and fossils, and it moved into a new building on the Vernon College grounds in 1985. The museum highlights the Waggoner ranching empire, which spanned more than 500,000 acres across six counties, and holds the largest known collection of art by sculptor Electra Waggoner Biggs. It also displays William Bond's collection of some 130 record-holding wild-game trophy mounts.
