History
St. John's traces its beginnings to 1871, when Swedish immigrants south of Georgetown began holding Methodist services in their native language, formally organizing in 1882 as the Swedish Methodist Episcopal Brushy congregation. The present Gothic Revival limestone sanctuary was built in 1906 to a design attributed to architect C. H. Page, and the congregation adopted the name St. John's in 1939. The church was listed on the National Register in 1990.
