In 1855, sixteen Polish immigrant families from Silesia arrived together in the young town of Bandera and built one of the oldest Polish Catholic parishes in the United States — a limestone church, a convent-school, family homes, and eventually a cemetery, almost all within a single walkable block. This short walk traces that immigrant community from its still-active 1876 church through its restored convent-school-turned-museum to the sole surviving settlers' house and the cemetery where the founding families are buried.
