Koreatown & the New Carrollton

Carrollton today anchors the largest Koreatown in North Texas — a dense corridor of restaurants, markets, and businesses centered along Old Denton Road. But the same prairie that drew Korean immigrant families in the late twentieth century first drew Peters Colony pioneers in the 1840s. This driving loop sets the two Carrolltons side by side: the state marker honoring Korean Texans, the founding land-and-emigration company that first planted settlers here, a creek-side park named for an early tanner, and the bustling Koreatown corridor itself. The route runs from the agency that opened North Texas to settlement to the neighborhood that became one of its most vibrant immigrant communities — proof that a town's founding story and its newest chapter can share the same streets.
