Denton Square Pub Crawl (UNT)

Denton's courthouse square and the few blocks east of it hold the bars that built the city's reputation as a music town, much of it fueled by UNT's famous jazz and music programs. This loop starts on the square itself, drifts east past a downtown brewery and a pair of patio bars, and finishes at two stages where touring acts and local bands have played for decades. The whole walk is about a mile, all of it on downtown sidewalks. Denton's reputation as a music town wasn't built in concert halls alone. It grew in small rooms and on back patios a few blocks from the courthouse square, where UNT students, longtime locals and touring bands have been crossing paths for decades. This walk of about a mile gathers some of the bars and stages that give downtown its character.

Between the music rooms you'll find the kind of laid-back places locals actually frequent, with local beer and food trucks parked out back. Harvest House, a downtown favorite since 2015, sets the tone with its big backyard beer garden and a stage for local bands.

The music history runs deep. Dan's Silverleaf opened in 2002 on Industrial Street, back when feed stores still surrounded the block, and became a beloved room for touring songwriters and roots acts, with Leon Russell and Johnny Winter among past headliners. Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios began in 1996 as a practice space, became a stage when a nearby club shut down, anchored the city's indie and experimental scene for nearly two decades, and reopened in 2019 with three performance spaces.
