About this tour

Galveston built its famous Seawall after the catastrophic 1900 hurricane, raising a ten-mile concrete rampart to shield the island from the Gulf — and over the decades the top of that wall became the island's front porch. Today Seawall Boulevard is a neon ribbon of beach bars, patio pubs and rooftop decks where locals and tourists gather to watch the sun drop into the water with a cold drink in hand. This easy evening drive rolls along the Seawall, stopping at the strip's best-loved watering holes, from a pool bar with palm-shaded loungers to a multi-level Gulf-front deck. It's less about history lessons and more about the island's laid-back after-dark rhythm — though the wall you're driving on is itself one of Texas's great feats of survival. Roll the windows down, smell the salt, and let the strip unwind.
