Galveston Beach Bars & the Seawall Strip

Galveston built its famous Seawall after the catastrophic 1900 hurricane, raising a ten-mile concrete rampart to shield the island from the Gulf — and over the decades the top of that wall became the island's front porch. Today Seawall Boulevard is a neon ribbon of beach bars, patio pubs and rooftop decks where locals and tourists gather to watch the sun drop into the water with a cold drink in hand.
