History

St. Mary's Cemetery is the burial ground of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst, a German Catholic farming colony straddling the Archer–Clay county line. The community was established in 1891 by settlers who named it for the German Catholic statesman Ludwig Windthorst and built their church atop a prominent hill. The parish cemetery has served Windthorst's Catholic families ever since.
