History

Washburn Cemetery serves the once-thriving railroad town of Washburn, established in 1887 at the terminus of the Fort Worth and Denver line and named for railroad official D. W. Washburn. Justice of the peace and banker James Logue donated the land for the cemetery; the town declined after narrowly losing the county seat to nearby Claude.
