History

Round Timber Cemetery marks the oldest settlement in Baylor County, where John W. Stevens built a cabin in 1874 to establish the county's first permanent community. The site, named for two round clumps of timber that provided building material, lies in southeastern Baylor County near the Throckmorton county line. The cemetery holds several hundred graves of early settlers and their descendants.
