History

The Silas and Ellen Baggett House on North Main Street in Belton was built by Silas Baggett, a Bell County pioneer and former Confederate cavalry officer, after his earlier farmhouse north of town burned in 1886. In 1893 his son Ele erected a mirror-image dwelling directly across the street, and the paired houses remain landmarks in Belton. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 26, 1990.
