History
This Belton house was built in 1926 at a cost of about $16,000 for Central Texas educator and entrepreneur L. B. Kinchion Sr. and his wife Necia Luline Kinchion, showing influences of the Arts and Crafts movement. During the Jim Crow era the home was listed in the Negro Motorist Green Book and served as a safe lodging for Black travelers and celebrities, reportedly hosting Louis Armstrong (in 1967), Jackie Robinson, Ella Fitzgerald, and Duke Ellington. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
