History
The Belton Yarn Mill began operating in October 1901 with 3,100 spindles and 100 looms to process locally grown cotton, its capacity doubling to roughly 7,000 spindles by 1905 under manager J. Z. Miller. The mill reflected Belton's dependence on the cotton economy from the 1880s into the 1920s. The National Register-listed mill building was demolished in the 2010s.
