History

Ximenes Chapel, also called the Chapel of the Miracles, is a historic chapel at 113 Ruiz Street in San Antonio. It enshrines a crucifix that local residents rescued around 1813 from a disaster at San Fernando parish; the present chapel was rebuilt in the 1920s after fire destroyed the original. Long cared for by the intermarried Ximenez and Rodriguez families, it remains an important place of prayer for San Antonio's Mexican-American Catholic community and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
