History
The Old Alamo National Bank Building at 316 E. Commerce Street was designed in 1902 by James Wahrenberger with Coughlin and Ayres in a Renaissance Revival style. When Commerce Street was widened in 1913 the five-story structure was famously moved back about twelve feet rather than lose its facade, after which three additional floors were added atop the relocated building.
