History

Chenango Cemetery serves the small community of Chenango, about seven miles north of Angleton in northeastern Brazoria County. The settlement grew up beside the 1,300-acre Chenango sugar plantation, established in the 1830s and worked by hundreds of enslaved people, and it became a station on the International-Great Northern Railroad by 1890. The community was named after Chenango in New York State.
