History

St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery is the burial ground of St. Mary of the Visitation parish in Lockhart, the seat of Caldwell County. The parish traces to 1887, when its first Mass was celebrated; after fire destroyed the church in 1918 it was rebuilt at its present location and renamed St. Mary of the Visitation the following year. The cemetery holds more than 1,500 recorded burials of the parish's families.
