History

The Stillman House Museum in Brownsville is a Greek Revival home built around 1850 for Charles Stillman, a Connecticut-born merchant who co-owned the original 1848 Brownsville townsite and later invested in the bank that became Citibank. One of the city's oldest surviving structures, it was restored and donated to Brownsville in 1958 and opened as a museum in 1960. It now houses the Brownsville Heritage Museum's collection of photographs, maps, costumes, and artifacts.
