History

Flat Creek Cemetery lies about 4.5 miles southeast of Marietta off FM 1399 in Cass County. It began on land tied to a local church and was later enlarged by a donation from the Walter Stubbs family. Its oldest graves, unmarked and covered by piles of rock, date to roughly 1868 and are believed to hold children of the J. L. Whittle family.
