History

Pleasant Hill Cemetery, also called Bryans Mill Cemetery, serves the Bryans Mill community west of Douglassville and is among the largest rural cemeteries in Cass County. Tradition traces its origin to the Mexican War era, when an ailing soldier died at the home of Elizabeth Henson Barcroft and was buried on a nearby hill; the associated Pleasant Hill Baptist Church was organized about 1843.
