History

Wiggins Cemetery, in far eastern Cherokee County near Lake Striker, began as a family burial ground on the Wiggins place. According to county histories, a member of the Wiggins family provided in his will for two burial plots on the property, one for the family and one for enslaved people, and the site later lay within the grounds of a Texas Power & Light generating plant. It is counted among the county's historic cemeteries.
