History

Holly Springs Cemetery lies about three miles west of Oakland, north of Highway 84, in Cherokee County. It is a mixed cemetery whose burials are largely of African American families, and it holds the ancestors of some of the county's oldest Black families; the earliest marked graves belong to the white family of Joseph Acker. It contains roughly 150 recorded burials.
