History

Paint Creek Cemetery sits near the vanished community of Edith, about 8.5 miles west of Robert Lee in Coke County. Edith was settled by ranchers and stock-farming homesteaders beginning in the early 1880s, and the cemetery's original acreage was donated in the 1890s by area landowners Alf Key and Joe Webb; more land was added from the Tom Peay estate in 1988, bringing it to about 7.7 acres. Its graves date to the late 1800s and include veterans of several wars.
