History

The Joseph Field Dulaney House at 315 South Chestnut Street was built in 1916 by Dallas banker John Field for his sister, Mrs. Joseph E. (Lucie) Dulaney, and shows the influence of the Prairie School style with its wraparound veranda. It passed to Joseph Field Dulaney (1876-1968), a local philanthropist who donated land across the street for the McKinney Public Library, and was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1988.
