History

Chestnut Square Heritage Village preserves McKinney's history on 2.5 acres just south of the downtown square, gathering six historic homes, a wedding chapel, a general store, and a replica one-room schoolhouse along with a blacksmith shop and smokehouse. The buildings hold period artifacts illustrating life in Collin County from 1854 to 1920. The village also hosts the McKinney Farmers Market and events such as the Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk.
