History

The W. D. Smith House at 703 North College Street was erected in 1905 by W. D. Smith, a prominent Collin County businessman, rancher, cattle trader, and landowner; the property's trees, planted in 1908, are recognized by the Texas Historical Tree Coalition. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 as part of the Historic Resources of McKinney.
