History

Nevada Cemetery in southeastern Collin County was established when the Independent Order of Odd Fellows purchased land from the James Osgood survey on August 2, 1906, and remains were relocated here from several small family plots. The town of Nevada was a growing commercial center until a tornado struck its square on May 9, 1927, killing 27 people. The cemetery received the Historic Texas Cemetery designation in 2008.
