History

Eden Cemetery serves the town of Eden, the seat of Concho County. The town was founded by Frederick Ede, who settled in the area about 1881 and in February 1882 set aside forty acres of his land for a townsite; when a post office opened in 1883 it took the name 'Eden,' an adaptation of Ede's surname. The community's cemetery holds graves from the town's early ranching-and-farming years in the 1880s onward.
