History

Pioneer Rest Cemetery, also known as the Old Eden Cemetery, is the original burial ground of Eden in Concho County, occupying about half a city block within the town. It began as a private plot when Adam Bradford buried his father, Jack Bradford, there in 1863, and as the town grew the city bought the tract from Mrs. Gustav E. Schleicher in 1904. Only about fifteen headstones remain visible today, with roughly as many unmarked graves.
