History

Cone Cemetery in northeastern Crosby County was founded with the burial of W. G. English on April 17, 1897, on land patented that same year by the English family. The nearby community, established around 1901, took its name from rancher James Stanton Cone when a post office opened about 1903. Judge Pink L. Parrish purchased the cemetery for Crosby County in 1910, and the state placed a historical marker there in 1971. The grounds lie about two miles west of U.S. 62 on Farm to Market Road 193.
