History
The Purvin-Hexter Building at 2038 Commerce Street is a vernacular two-part commercial block near the eastern edge of the Dallas central business district, in what was originally the Railroad Addition. Built in 1899 with load-bearing brick walls and wood-frame floors and roof, it has anchored a commercial stretch of Commerce Street since the early 1900s. It was listed on the National Register in 2006.
