History
Dallas Heritage Village occupies Old City Park, Dallas's first city park, established in 1876 on ten acres donated by James J. Eakins. Beginning in the late 1960s the Dallas County Heritage Society relocated 19th-century pioneer and Victorian buildings here, and the site became the city's first Bicentennial project, with the park renamed Old City Park in 1976. It preserves one of the largest collections of 19th-century architecture in Texas, drawn from across North Central Texas.
