History
The Garland Landmark Museum is housed in the Santa Fe Depot, built in 1901 by the Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Railroad to replace an earlier Embree depot destroyed by fire in 1900. Competition between rival rail lines had created the settlements of Embree and Duck Creek, which merged to form Garland in 1891. The City moved the depot behind City Hall in 1972 and relocated it again in 2014 to 393 N. Sixth Street, where it displays artifacts of early settlers, schools, commerce, and industry.
