History

The Edwards County Courthouse in Rocksprings was designed by Kerrville architects Ben Davey and Bruno Schott and first built in 1890-1891 in the Romanesque Revival style from coursed native limestone. After fire gutted it in December 1898, the same builders reconstructed the present, simpler courthouse in 1899. The pair also designed regional landmarks such as the Kimble County Jail and the Schreiner Bank in Kerrville; the courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
