History
When Rocksprings became the Edwards County seat in 1891, the Kerrville team of architect Ben Davey and contractor Bruno Schott was hired to build a courthouse for about $18,000, using limestone quarried just east of town in a Romanesque Revival, stone-vernacular Victorian style. The building's interior was gutted by fire in December 1898, leaving only the outer walls, and it later withstood the devastating F5 tornado that cut through Rocksprings on April 12, 1927.
