History
The 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss Museum, also known as the Old Ironsides Museum, presents the history of Fort Bliss from 1849 to the present alongside the story of the 1st Armored Division, the U.S. Army's first tank division. Its collection includes military vehicles and an original German V-2 rocket. Located about seven miles northwest of downtown El Paso on the active post, the museum underwent a roughly $3.5 million exhibit redesign, reopening with expanded focus on the post, the 1st Armored Division, and the NCO Corps.
