History
El Paso High School was completed in 1916 to a Neoclassical design by the noted firm Trost & Trost, built of reinforced concrete and brick at a cost of about $500,000. Its Greco-Roman facade, with a broad flight of semicircular steps and six terra-cotta columns, made it one of the finest early-twentieth-century school buildings in Texas. Perched at the foot of the Franklin Mountains, it earned the nickname 'The Lady on the Hill' and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
