History
James McDaniel was an early Ellis County settler and a veteran of the Army of Texas during the 1836 revolution. Born in Alabama on September 10, 1810, he later settled near Milford, where he died January 11, 1885. He and his wife, Isabella Weir McDaniel, are buried in the Milford Cemetery, and the State of Texas placed a granite Centennial marker in his honor in 1936.
