History
Frederick Harrison Rankin was one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists, receiving title to land in 1824 after arriving in Texas in 1822. Born in Kentucky in 1795, he lived in Harris and Navarro counties before settling on Chambers Creek in Ellis County, south of Waxahachie. He died July 2, 1874, and is buried in Myrtle Cemetery at Ennis, where a State of Texas Centennial marker was erected in 1936.
