History

Alto Springs Cemetery lies east of Reagan near the Limestone County line, on the site of the vanished community of Alto Springs. The settlement began as a relay point on an early Central Texas stage route, with a post office from 1846, and local tradition holds that Sam Houston spoke at the station in 1842. About fifty-five burials have been documented near the ruins of the community church.
