History
Built about 1888 by Bonham grocer Albert Joseph Clendenen, this Victorian residence at 803 North Main Street displays Eastlake and Stick-style detailing on its decorative gabled porches and galleries. Dr. J.C. Carleton purchased the home for his family in 1914 and introduced electricity. A rare initialed stone carriage block of the builder survives in front. The house, now the Carleton House Bed & Breakfast, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
