History

Lamasco Cemetery serves the old farming community of Lamasco in Fannin County, settled in the 1870s and 1880s by families such as the McGouirks, who came from Alabama by ox-drawn wagon, and merchant Solomon Irick. The community supported general stores, and Lamasco Lodge No. 348 of the Masons relocated there in 1890. The cemetery holds nearly 600 recorded graves, while smaller nearby burial grounds include Pilgrim's Rest and Center Grove.
