History

The E.A. Arnim Museum opened in 1988 in two downtown Flatonia buildings, growing from the lifelong local-history collection of E.A. "Sam" Arnim Jr., whose father ran the Arnim & Lane Mercantile Store. Exhibits trace the settlement and development of Flatonia and the surrounding rural area from the 1860s through World War II, including a second-floor Flatonia-area Veterans Museum. The collection includes frontier household items, furniture, photographs, and farm equipment.
