History

The two-story brick Olle Hotel in Flatonia was built between 1896 and 1901 by physician G.W. Allen Sr., in a town whose railroads created steady demand for lodging by traveling salesmen. It first operated as a hotel in 1915 under Carrie Snell, and in 1926 Otto Olle purchased the Colonial Revival building, which he and his wife ran into the 1960s. After decades of vacancy it was restored beginning in 1999 and recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 2009.
