History
This Unity of the Brethren (Czech-Moravian) church near Fayetteville stands close to the site remembered as the first Czech Protestant worship service held in Texas, in 1855. Czech-Moravian settlers formally organized the congregation, the second-oldest Unity of the Brethren congregation in Texas, by 1870, and in 1874 Thomas and Katerina Jecmenek donated land for a church, parish house, school, and cemetery. The original marker was erected in 1964.
