History

The Sternberg Family Cemetery stands about two and a half miles west of Carmine on County Road 106. The land passed from an original state grantee, Mary Phelps, to Wilhelm and Louise Ebeling, whose two young daughters are thought to be the earliest burials there. The cemetery is named for the family of the Ebelings' daughter, Caroline Ebeling Sternberg, and contains seventeen marked graves along with several unmarked ones.
